Hello friends. Maybe you will agree with the following quote from best selling author, Charles Swindoll.
"Words can never adequately convey the incredible impact of our attitude toward life. The longer I live the more convinced I become that life is 10 percent what happens to us and 90 percent how we respond to it.
I believe the single most significant decision i can make on a day-to-day basis is my choice of attitude. It is more important than my past, my education, my bankroll, my successes or failures, fame or pain, what other people think of me or say about me, my circumstances, or my position. Attitude keeps me going or cripples my progress... It alone fuels my fire or assaults my hope. When my attitude is right, there's no barrier too high, no valley too deep, no dream too extreme, no challenge too great for me."
One attitude that seems to hound many of us is that of discontent. the following poem "Present Tense", clearly articulates that concept. It was written in a "Dear Abby" column several years ago.
It was spring
But it was summer I wanted,
The warm days, and the great outdoors.
It was summer,
But it was fall I wanted,
The colorful leaves, and the cool, dry air.
It was fall,
But it was winter I wanted,
The beautiful snow, and the joy of the holiday season.
It was winter,
But it was spring I wanted,
The warmth, and the blossoming of nature.
I was a child,
But it was adulthood I wanted,
The freedom, and the respect.
I was 20
But it was 30 I wanted,
To be mature, and sophisticated.
I was middle-aged,
But it was 20 I wanted,
The youth, and the free spirit.
I was retired
But it was middle age I wanted,
The presence of mind,
Without limitations.
My life was over,
But I never got what i wanted.
My understanding is that an attitude of contentment is not only a good one, but also a Godly one! Hope to see you Sunday.
